NASSCOM Foundation, in collaboration with Hinduja Global Solutions (HGS), today announced the culmination of its first year of training under the unique Centre of Excellence for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) at Noida. The Centre has trained over 100 PwDs on various employable skills.

The Centum Foundation at Noida Centre conducts training on a variety of job roles suitable for IT/BPM, Hospitality and Retail industries. Students have also been trained on soft skills, interview skills, communication skills, etc. Efforts have been made to ensure that the Center is completely accessible to the students - not just allowing barrier-free access but also giving access to use technology.

HGS is supporting this cause as part of their CSR agenda and has committed to creating a better employment environment for PwDs. NASSCOM Foundation will be the overall owner of the initiative to ensuring the maximum impact.

Shrikant Sinha, CEO, NASSCOM Foundation said, “We, at NASSCOM Foundation, are committed to the goal of a truly inclusive India. One of the major factors to achieve this goal is to make Persons with Disabilities financially independent, provide accessible training environment and working spaces for them and change our mindset towards their capabilities. The success of the Noida Centre is a proof that if equipped with the right skillset, they can be as efficient as anybody else at job. We are thankful to HGS for its continued support to this cause and encourage more corporates to collaborate with us towards making PwDs employment ready and raise the percentage of PwDs employed in the IT-BPM sector from 0.5% to at least 3%.”

Speaking on the occasion, Partha DeSarkar, Global CEO, HGS said, “We are delighted with the overall successful outcome of our skilling program for PwDs in association with NASSCOM Foundation. Not only has this program helped these talented individuals to improve their economic status, it has also opened avenues for them to look for better employment opportunities.” He further added, “Following the success of our Centre at Noida, we are optimistic that the new Centre in Delhi will also encourage more such people to upskill themselves and be financially independent.”

NASSCOM Foundation’s Disability Initiative encourages inclusion in the IT/BPM industry by sensitizing the sector about accessibility (barrier-free workplace and assistive technology) and employment. Disability Initiative helps companies inculcate inclusive best practices from all four aspects of disability – Physical Accessibility, Web Accessibility, Assistive Technologies, and Employability.

Also, NASSCOM Foundation enables PwDs to get trained on employable skills to be able to have better job opportunities. It also looks forward to directly interact with employers and help them interact with PwDs in a more efficient way.
